THE OUTDOORS

• There are undead wandering around all over this area. One group has a vampire who gives up some nice treasure when you kill him. Another group has a spectre which can be a bit challenging.
• You need graymold salve to help the sick nephilim village. Once you do the two local tribes will 1) sell you a batch of charms, and 2) improve your bow skill for 1000c.
• There is no quest to clean out the Spiral Pit, but it is worth doing for xp and treasure. Also you can get 1 rep for doing by talking to the merchants wandering around Mertis.

MERTIS

Quests Destroy Honeycomb Brigands - 25xp, 4 rep Kill Silo Bugs - 10xp, Arrows of Light Get a gold ring - 10xp, Ring of Skill Shops Anhara: Miscellaneous items, buys stuff Cronan: Innkeeper Matt: Weapons Rhoads: Anatomy skill Tina: Archery Supplies

• Anhara give you the quest for the gold ring. You get a Ring of Skill in return.111
• Elmer gives you the quest to kill the silo bugs. You get 10xp and some Arrows of Light when you complete the quest.
• Lynn gives you the quest to destroy the honeycomb bandits. You get 25xp and 4 rep for completing this quest.
• Caelen tells you about the Empire Passes. He wants to get a gray one, and indicates the prisoner in town may know of its location. You will have to sneak in via a secret passage to interrogate the prisoner yourself. The prisoner (named Dougherty) tells you that the gray pass is in a hidden fort in the Lava Dome area. You will have to very strong to get it.
• The only thing you get for killing the aranea is a silver ring on the body.

SPIRAL PIT

• There are undead everywhere in this dungeon. This why I like to have four priests in my party who can cast Dispel Spirit. Also there are places that resist or even nullify any source of light.
• The box in the southwest corner that is surrounded by barriers only contains three ordinary crystals. Don't waste any Piercing Crystals on it.
• In the large room with all the ledges, you are forced to jump down each one. The ramps don't appear until you get past all the ledges and the ruby skeletons and turn the wheel.
• The spectres and spirits in the north-central room appear only as you cross the bridge.
• A barrier blocks the way to the central chamber. This is the place to use one of your precious Piercing Crystals.
• Once you have defeated the fetid zombies, cast Ritual of Sanctification for 30xp.
• You will have triggered the appearance of more undead that you will have to fight on your way out.
