Shops Lava Foundry: Steel armor and weapons

• When you first leave the Tower of Magi, you are informed that Cotra has been destroyed by the Empire.
• Regenerating enemy include, Ogres, Sliths, and snakes.
• The wandereing assasins have a scroll that lets you know you are
• The supply cache just has food and arrows. being targeted by the Empire.
• You can get some really good armor at the Lava Foundry, but the prices are Utterly Ridiculous.
• You don't have to attack the ogre village, unless you just want the XP. You need to be pretty strong though; they are pretty tough. When you do defeat them you will be rewarded with a Sticky Charm (cursed).
• The Serpent Cult is a pretty tough quest. You may not want to tackle it when you first leave the Tower of Magi.

• When you first return from the Vahnatai lands, you wake up in the guest quarters in the west side. When you leave you will be summoned to Mahdavi's quarters.
• You can steal the stuff in the storage room by pushing the barrels and crates through the secret passage out of sight of the guard in the room. It is definitely worth your while.
• You can buy some new mage spells from Kayannan, but you will be getting a far better deal if you wait and see Kosdad, north in East Avernum.
• Kelner gives you a quest to Destroy the Serpent Cult.
• Vincent gives you a quest for a black drake tooth.
• Mahdavi will give you several quests, starting with Speak with Pyrn. Look in the dresser in Pyrn's room to get the teleporter code to the Barrier Tower.
• When you get Magi Clearance, you may access the Portal Chamber in the center of the tower. The first time you go there, you will be attacked by several demons including a Mung demon. Capture him in your Soul Crystal before wiping them out. Here is where you can use the magic words to teleport yourself to other parts of Avernum, including some places you cannot access by walking.

• The spell books in the hidden south room can only be read upon completing certain quests. From left to right they are: Curing L3, Battle Rage L3, Shielding L3.
• Once you have spoken with Pyrn in the Barrier Tower, talk with Mahdavi who will give you the next quest, Find Location of Portal.
• When you return from the Empire Archives with the location of the Empires Portal, Mahdavi will give the next part of the quest, Destroy the Empire Portal.
• Report back to Mahdavi after you have done this to complete the last quest. Your reward is access to three green tomes scattered in the libraries. They contain a Ring of Great Health, Arcane Shield 3, Divine Restoration 3. Destroying the portal is one of the three game winning objectives.

SERPENT CULT

• There's a trapdoor in the NE. You can open it after you pull the lever that's to the NE of the trapdoor. 5 snakes attack you then.
• Towards the center east there are 2 giant slugs, if you want to fight the nasty things.
• You can't get up to the main fortress before going down, so get to the second level by taking one of the two pits.
• Once in the pit, fight the snakes and get up to the altar, and use the ritual of sanctification (10xp).
• Go west and you'll find Captain Brehon locked in a room. Talk to him after killing the slith chief for 1 rep and 10xp.
• To the NE is a secret passage that leads to a basilisk and a book. You can't look at the book until you get the blessed athame (it's repel spirit 3).
• Go to the NW and cast beast ceremony before going up the stairs. There's a nasty fight up there with 3 slith spell casters and a bunch of warriors. Kill them, and you can get a dragonskin cloak, the best cloak in the game.
• You can use the ritual on the altar for a humorous result, but no xp.
• Go east, and fight some mages. Check the bookcase for a scroll (historical scrolls have no quest in this game).
• Then take the west door to get some treasure (coins, blessed arrows, heroic brew, a cursed ring).
• Go south and open all of the doors except for the most southerly one. All of these rooms have some nice stuff. The NW room has a book that gives you +1 to arcane lore. The SE room (with the barrier) has a lot of potion ingredients, and the mideast room leads to a secret room with a bunch of dead, one of which has iron chain.
• Now go south and kill the slith chieftain. He has a fine slith spear, and a warrior's ring (an improved ring of skill). Kill all his buddies, then go west and kill the rest of the sliths.
• Use the wheel in the NE to get out without hurting yourself.
• Go to the tower of the magi to claim your reward: 20xp, 4 rep and battle rage 3.
