You have a choice now - Goblin Cave, Bat Cave, or Brigand Fort?
There's no point in walking through each place - It's all pretty much the same at this point - you'll wander into these areas, kill one or three groups of monsters (using lots of Battle Rage, healing, and Bolts of Fire), then run back to Fort Duvno to rest, sell stuff, and maybe pick up some better equipment here and there. You'll begin to wonder if you aren't made of paper. But you'll gain a few levels and soon you'll be wandering through these caves killing everything. Then you'll stop avoiding wandering encounters, too. Pretty soon you'll even go back to the house that makes thugs show up, and kill them. After that, you'll even talk to Jason and summon the Bandits and kill them, too, making a third newbie quest in this area.
The only thing you do NOT want to do is go through the secret door in the Bat Cave. Down there be Lava Bats. You will suffer.
Fulfilling these quests, though, will give you goodly supply of cash, decent equipment, several reputation points, and some much improved skills. Now you'll be hungry for new spells.
But first, you're going back to Cotra.
