THE OUTDOORS

• There are several encounters with enemies nearby. In general, be nice to guards and never surrender your money to bandits.
• Those lizards can't be corralled, as far as I know.
• There are goblins, mushrooms, undead, and bandits all nearby with unique encounters. You're also likely to run into spiders, nephilim, and bats.
• You cannot pass the barrier in the west until you have completed Chapter 3.
• The Special Encounter in the southeast with the Nephilim and Goblins will reward you with a Healing Elixer.
• The Special Encounter in the west with the Spiders will reward you with a Wand of Bolts
• You cannot pass the line of Protective Webs until you visit the Spider Cave and bathe in their special pool.

FORT GANRICK

Quests Destroy Mysterious Barriers - 100xp Kill the Nephar Chieftain - 20xp, 3 rep Find the Stolen Arrow Supply - 100c, 15xp, 1 rep

• You complete the Destroy Mysterious Barriers quest when you talk to the Council at Olgai in the Vahnatai Lands.
• Talk with Commander Vidican to get the Kill the Nephar Chiefain quest. You will have to go to the Nephilim Castle to the east. Wait until the Nephilim attack the fort and you will get a map with a password to the back entrance via the Hidden Nephilim Cave. Report to Commander Vidican for your reward - 20xp, 3 rep.
• Talk with Gridley to get the quest to Find the Stolen Arrow Supply. You need to go the Verdant Valley to the south and check out the supply room there (after killing all the bandits). Report back to Gridley for your reward.
• Get all the supplies you can get and equip the best stuff. Don't forget to check behind the secret wall in the northeast for more stuff.
• If you wait until the Nephilim attack the fort, you can get some good stuff from this encounter, including some stuff from the Fort Ganrick guards if any of them die. Just make sure that Gridley and Commander Vidican survive the encounter; otherwise you will have to restore the game to get your rewards.

FORT DRACO

Quests Kill the Bandits - 1 rep, 15xp, 150c Deliver Iron Bars - good price on iron bars Deliver Marriage Proposal - shielding ring, 5xp Shops Boris: Training Boutell: Weapons, buys stuff Cheryl: Tools, Lockpicks Crisper: Rations, Room, Drinks Esther: Armor, buys stuff Orson: Weapons, buys stuff Tess: Boats

UNDER FORT DRACO

• Talk to Anford to get the quest to Kill the Bandits. Go Under Fort Draco via the ladder behind Cheryls shop, find the bandit leader and kill him. Report back to Anford for your reward.
• Talk to Killia for the quest for Iron Bars. This quest is never completed, but it is a good way to improve your cash until you get trained in Barter skill. Once you have sufficient Barter skill, you can sell your iron bars anywhere for more than this quest will pay.
• Talk to Harg for the quest to Deliver the Marriage Proposal. Then go to Formello to talk to Rose. Return with her reply. Once you have told him Rose's response, stop talking with Harg immediately, or you will lose a reputation point.
• You can steal a lot of goodies here; just make sure no one is looking. In Boutell's shop there is an Iron Greatsword and an iron bar. In the boatshop in the southwest, there is a locked room worth pillaging.
  
• After you kill the bandits, you can get their stuff to sell. There are some decent supplies behind the secret door, past some traps.
• Some of the rats are the very annoying vapor rats. You may get a couple of furs to sell.
• After you have gotten the Find Locke quest from Fort Samuels you can read the log book to find that ocke has been here. Now you can return to Fort Samuels to get your reward.

TOR'S HOMESTEAD

Quests Kill the Salamanders - Shielding Charm, 10xp, 1rep, ability to train Barter Shops Tor: Food, Barter Skill

• Talk to Tor to get the quest to Kill the Salamanders. Go to the NE corner to kill them, then report back to Tol for your reward.
• Barter skill is very useful to get the most value from your hauls of booty. Get 5 levels for each PC.
• You can kill the vicious lizards in the pens if you want.
• There's a nice strength elixir ripe for stealing in the northern building.

NEPHIL CASTLE

HIDDEN NEHPIL CAVE

• Go in the back entrance to the Hidden Nephilim Cave. Fight your way through the nephilim, goblins, undead and hydras on this level. Eventually you'll make it to a door, and will automatically use the ghath password to get into the larger parts of the caves.
• The main level has nephilim and goblins all over. Only the more interesting enemy are noted.
• The ghouls in the SE are not present until you enter the crypt area.
• South of the evil altar there is a bookcase with the very useful spell Move Mountains. You only get first level, though.
• Towards the SW there is a tunnel that'll let you leave to sell your items.
• Arum is held captive in far SE. You can free him (1rep 5xp) after slaying the nephar chieftain for Cdr. Vidicans quest.
• Check the friend's body in the northern cell for a Beast Call Crystal.
• East of the big room is the nephar chieftain. Kill him to finish the quest you got from Cdr. Vidican in Fort Ganrick.
• Go a bit SE to kill some nephil shamans, and get to their book. Destroy the book (don't read it!) for 5xp.
• Go NE of the nephar chieftain room and you'll fight a nephil chieftain. Kill him and go into his room. On the west side, there's a secret passage which'll lead to two poison fungi and the treasure room. The chest behind the fire barrier (passable but damaging) contains a rogue leather (very nice- improves tool use, and is 1-4+3).

VERDANT VALLEY

BRIGAND LAIR FIERY PIT

There are two ways of exploring this dungeon, from the south and from the north.

• From the south, you can access a secondary level filled with lava and such. There's not too much here, a few minor goodies, some gold, some fine leather armor, and a wand of bolts. There a few places you have to jump down (red lines). You will get damaged when you jump down, but it is minor and unavoidable.
• From the north you encounter a bunch of bandits and their hideout. Bypass the ramp up until later.
• Work your way to the body in the middle to get a Lay On Hands ability crystal.
• After getting this, go on back to the bandit hideout and go up the ramp. Kill everyone in this section of the hideout. To the east, you'll find the stolen arrow shipment.
• In the northern room, there is a secret door along the west wall with a passageway that leads through a fire barrier to a bunch of annoying hordlings. Kill them, and look at the bookshelf. You'll get 10 xp.
• That's it for here, so head on back to Fort Ganrick and claim your reward (100c, 15xp, 1 rep.).

SPIDER CAVE

Quests Recover the Spider Eggs - 10xp, Ring of Skill, Red Empire Pass

• This cave has many GIFTS, all named Spider. Talk with them for some comic relief.
• Talk to the mayor spider in the NW corner to get the quest. Retrieve the eggsack from the Aranea Web to the south for your reward (10xp and ability to loot the locked cave). The locked cave contains, among other treasure, a Red Empire Pass and a Ring of Skill.
• Touch the pool in order to be able to pass the barriers to the Aranea Web.
• Kill the two aranea hiding in the secret passage and block their entrance.
• Fight your way through the dumb spiders to get to their treasure (200cp). Taking the treasure spawns a few more aranea to fight on your way out.

ARANEA WEB

• There are aranea all through this cave. Just patrol the cave in combat mode.
• The GIFTS' eggsack is in the NW corner of the cave.
• You can destroy the writing just south of the eggsack, but no reward.
• In the SW corner is another Spider. Talk to him after you have the eggsack for another 5xp.
• The elder aranea in the center is guarding a rune that gives you Bolt of Fire L3.
• There are many scrolls scattered throughout the cave.
